Recent studies by the Institute of Medicine report that medication errors harm 1.5 million patients and are responsible for more than 7,000 deaths every year. NEPSI is a coalition of technology companies, health insurers and provider organizations dedicated to improving patient safety and reducing harmful medication errors by providing free electronic prescribing (ePrescribing) to every prescriber in the United States.

As a regional supporter, Horizon BCBSNJ serves as the conduit for organizations in New Jersey interested in adopting NEPSI’s free ePrescribing solution, ePrescribe from Allscripts. This software enables simple, safe and secure ePrescribing powered by the same leading-edge Allscripts technology used by more than 20,000 physicians to write millions of electronic prescriptions each year.

Horizon BCBSNJ is working with NEPSI to ensure simple and quick access to ePrescribe, which is free, requires no download and no new hardware.
